Dr Malka trained in Orthopaedics at The Mount Sinai Hospital, in New York City. He did 2 additional years of Orthopaedic training (in addition to full residency) in the care of fractures and joint surgery. During the Vietnam War he was Assistant Chief of Orthopaedics at the 106 General Hospital, US Army, in Japan, where the more severely wounded were evacuated from Vietnam for their care. Over the years he has developed a special interest and expertise in:

Dr Malka is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (1973), a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (1976), and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (1975) as well as an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at Georgetown University Medical Center.

Dr Malka has been an instructor in several courses for other Orthopaedic surgeons both in the US and Europe and has several scientific papers in print.

He was chosen by the Orthopaedic surgeons at Fairfax Hospital to be Chief of Orthopaedics at Fairfax Hospital. In 1992, because of the results achieved, a separate Department of Orthopaedics was created at Fairfax Hospital and Dr Malka was unanimously selected as the first Chairman of the new Department.

He is responsible for the training at Fairfax Hospital of orthopaedic residents rotating from 3 residency programs (Georgetown, George Washington, and US Army Residency Program).

Dr Malka performed the first Total Knee Replacement performed at Fairfax Hospital. He first performed Total Hip Replacements in 1965 in Switzerland, years before the first such operations in the US. He was one of the early users of Arthroscopy to evaluate knee injuries. In 1992 he founded the Joint Replacement Center at Fairfax Hospital. Since 1991 and every year since, he is included in the Washingtonian's list of "TOP DOCTORS" for the area.

Dr Malka participates in multiple Continuing Medical Education courses and activities in a persistent attempt to remain up to date with the latest advances in Orthopaedics. BILLING

Please complete in full the information form when you register on your first visit. This allows us to correctly submit your insurance forms for you, which we do as a service to you at no charge. If you prefer to file yourself, we will provide you with an itemized superbill to attach to your insurance forms.

Dr Malka is very concerned about the rising cost of medical care and tries very hard to avoid unnecessary tests and procedures whenever safe to do so.

To assist our elderly patients further, we accept Medicare as payment in full except for the deductible that we are required by law to ask you to pay.

To keep billing costs and our fees as low as possible we ask that you pay for office services and/or co-pay required by your insurance plan at the time of service (Visa/MC accepted). We will be glad to wait up to 6 weeks for insurance payments on surgical and fracture fees in excess of $200. However, except for HMO and similar plans, responsibility for payment is the patient's and payment arrangements, where necessary, must be made between our office and the patient. We will be happy to discuss any questions you may have, or give you any possible assistance in this area.
